It’s an all-new dynamic for the Dynamic Duo when Nightwing and Gotham’s mysterious new Batman join forces against the Magistrate. But when the totalitarian force controlling the city declares the two heroes their primary targets, Nightwing will need to call on the full force of his hidden resistance, including two Batgirls, Huntress, and Two-Face! But even then, will it be enough? Find out in this action-packed conclusion!

As Nightwing and the “next” Batman await the Magistrate and Peacekeeper-06’s attack inside Arkham Asylum let’s head to a “Future” Gotham and see who may make an appearance to help out their family in need!

We jump right back into our story from the last issue as we find pre-recorded “news” being shown as Nightwing and Batman survey the scene to see what they’re up against.

Nightwing quickly gives himself the edge while telling Batman to go leave.

This a reversal of sorts for Nightwing. Batman is usually telling the other members of the Batfamily to sit out a tough case, or not be involved in anything that Batman may personally think is too dangerous. Predictably of course, Nightwing doesn’t go on alone. What fun would that be anyway??

Then we’re treated to what I think is one of the best pages of art I’ve seen in all of the Future State books.

Everything about the art is awesome! The pencils and colors. Bravo Nicola Scott and Ivan Plascencia!!

From here on we’re right in dab in the middle of a big comic book battle! Soldiers, tanks, explosions, and the Batfamily showing up to aid Nightwing and Batman. We’ve got some new costumes and new members to the Batfamily, so their names are conveniently placed if need be to recognize who’s who. If you want to know who’s in the Batfamily now, you’ll have to pick up the issue!!

We get an origin story of sorts for Peacekeeper-06 that should be all too familiar to any fan of the Bat-books, and also a see a pretty awesome new vehicle too! The last panel of the book also features some spectacular art!

Final Thoughts:

Andrew Constant ties up his Future State Nightwing story in a fine fashion. There’s something for everyone in this issue. Great action on display with great art, and Constant showing us prior to Tom Taylor’s arrival that Nightwing is in fact an “A” list hero!! Come on DC, let’s get Andrew Constant on an ongoing book!
