Mayor Mayhem pt 2:
Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two #6 (say that 5 times fast), consistently fills that missing nostalgia from my childhood. This series hits just the right spots. There are iconic characters coupled with amazing storytelling and a plot that stems from the past. In Mayor Mayhem pt 2, the Bat and co, are still spinning in circles regarding the new mayoral candidate. Even though the citizens of Gotham love the new candidate, does he have the support of the Bat-Family? Let’s check it out!

The Set-Up:
This is part two from the previous issue (duh Soycornholio). Former Mayor Emerson Mayfield continues his re-election campaign. Even though he has been out of the office for 20 years (due to medical reasons) he is on a winning streak. Mayfield has charisma to the point that supporters of the current mayor (Hamilton Hill) are converting over to his side. This is fishy to Batman. This issue takes us through some of the greatest moments that make Batman…well Batman.
The Detective:
We often forget that Batman is the World’s Greatest Detective. In Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two #6, Batman does detective work as Bruce Wayne. Emerson Mayfield decides to host a rally at the Iceberg Lounge (no Penguin cameo though) and the only way Batman can do some digging, was as he alter ego. I love seeing this duality of Batman. Yes, we all love Batman, but Bruce Wayne is even more intriguing. He must purposely play the millionaire (actually, billionaire nowadays) playboy to gain access to events he could dress up as a large bat. This call back to the detective part of Batman was a fresh welcome.
Final Thoughts:
Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Two #6 is a good second half to the Mayor Mayhem storyline. We are taken further into the inner workings of the politically corrupt section of Gotham City while having a stellar cast of characters in this issue (Alfred, Batgirl, Nightwing, and Tim Drake to name a few). This comic takes place within the BTAS universe, therefore, if you’re a fan of the show, check it out. If you are a Batman fan who is craving for more of a detective style of Batman (and less action like the mainstream books) this is for you. Happy reading!
