Clark Kent is enjoying a night off with a very important dinner planned with his girlfriend, Lois Lane, when the entire city shudders under the weight of the monstrous Godzilla, who emerges from the bay! What started as a routine clash between the Justice League and the Legion of Doom takes a dangerous turn when the wall between worlds is breached…with Godzilla, Kong, and the Monsterverse emerging on DC’s Earth! THE DISPATCH

Brian Buccellato uses the first installment of Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. King Kong #1 as a simple, easy-to-follow story to get fans quickly into the thick of it. There are no secrets. There is no mystery. You know exactly how we get this Goliath Battle brewing. And, we get it all under the umbrella of the classic Justice League team with its roots grounded in the very basics of the characters.

Additionally, any fan could buy this and dive right in without much in terms of background knowledge or story, which is a huge plus. If you’re looking for that extremely fun and entertaining story to get your mind off the real world, Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. King Kong #1 will do just that.

However, the big crux of the issue is centered around Clark wanting to ask Lois to marry him with a rather large interruption. Readers, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. It places the events in time so we know when this is taking place. Nevertheless, it does make for an extra story nugget that seems a bit forced and out of place.

ART

Christian Duce and Luis Guerrero drew a stunning Godzilla. He looks gargantuan, fierce, menacing, and practically unstoppable. No offense to some of the Godzilla titles I’ve read from other comic companies, but this design has to be one of the best. Moreover, his Kong is also lights out! What the art tells me in Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. King Kong #1 is that any fan of the two big dawgs needs to pick this series up. For the illustrations alone, fans of these Titans will be pleased AND Justice League fans will most certainly be curious.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Justice League Vs. Godzilla Vs. King Kong #1 is straightforward, fun, entertaining, and provides one heck of a Godzilla and King Kong. Even though the plot seems a bit too elementary, it’s super easy to follow and allows for anyone to join in. If you have the spare cash, I recommend DC fans give it a shot. However, I highly recommend any Godzilla and King Kong fans to grab this issue up quickly. Sure, it doesn’t provide a ton of action with these two Titans of destruction yet. Nevertheless, the following issues will most certainly be heavy on the classic pop culture giants moving forward. Let me know what you think, have a great week, and God Bless!
