THE DISPATCH
Absolute Flash #3 puts the pedal to the metal as Jeff Lemire zeroes in on Wally West’s harrowing race for survival. With the Rogues closing in and time literally slipping through his fingers, Wally’s latest chapter is less about outrunning villains and more about outrunning fear, failure, and the weight of legacy.

Lemire, known for his ability to fuse high-concept plots with deep emotional introspection, gives us a Wally who is raw, vulnerable, and at a crossroads. Struggling to control his unstable new connection to the Speed Force—something stranger and more volatile than ever—Wally is portrayed not as the confident speedster of old, but as a man teetering on the edge of collapse. The Rogues, more cunning and coordinated than we’ve seen them in years, aren’t just a physical threat—they’re a reminder of everything Wally has to lose if he falters.

Nick Noble’s art is a revelation. Every motion blur, every lightning crackle, every contorted expression of panic or resolve adds momentum to the issue. His Rogues are brutal and grounded, a mix of old-school menace and modern menace. There’s one chase sequence through a collapsing bridge that feels like it was pulled straight from a cinematic blockbuster—and yet Marquez makes sure the heart of the moment remains on Wally’s face.

What sets Absolute Flash #3 apart is how Lemire frames speed not as freedom, but as a burden. Wally isn’t just running from the Rogues; he’s running from the question that every legacy hero fears: Am I enough?

By the final page, it’s clear that this isn’t just a test of power—it’s a test of identity. And the issue ends on a perfect cliffhanger: is Wally truly at the finish line, or is this just the beginning of his transformation into something far greater—or far more dangerous?

FINAL THOUGHTS
Absolute Flash #3 is Lemire at his best: introspective, intense, and unpredictable. With high-stakes action, emotional gravity, and stunning visuals, this issue proves Wally’s story is one worth racing after. This is a lightning-fast thrill ride grounded in real emotion. If Wally West is going down, he’s doing it in one of the most compelling Flash stories in years.
