Things are heating up in Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Three #7. As we saw at the end of the last issue, the mysterious woman who was being chased by the Talons turned out to be none other than Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman herself! The writers provide some helpful background as to how Catwoman got involved with the Talons and it turns out the cameo of Man-Bat at the beginning of last issue wasn’t just to fill space, but he actually has a role in the story too. Batman still has his misgivings about Ra’s Al Ghul’s apparent reform, but Talia helps to track down the Talons, once again showing her divided loyalties between Batman and her father.
In an unusual turn of events, Batman tasks Poison Ivy with analyzing Ra’s’s grain, but he proves that he can make his enemies useful to him when he needs them. This issue does a good job of tying recent plot lines together, such as the Court of Owls arc from last season, Ra’s Al Ghul’s plan, and even the mention of the Straightman adventure. It is also notable that Talia and Catwoman, 2 of Batman’s major lovers, meet each other in the DCAU.
The art in Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Three #7 is somewhat sporadic since there are multiple artists working on this issue. Although they all manage to stick close to the Bruce Timm animation style, the differences between artists is noticeable. The other artists draw Batman’s pointy ears on his costume slightly smaller than Templeton does. That being said though, there are still some great action panels, such as when Batman, Robin, Catwoman and Talia are fighting with the Talons.
Batman: The Adventures Continue Season Three #7 is another exciting adventure where enemies become uneasy allies. The stakes are high. It remains to be seen who the real big bad is. Has Hamilton Hill returned from the dead? Is Ra’s Al Ghul up to his old tricks? Or could there be an entirely new enemy for Batman to face? And what might Man-Bat have to do with it?
