The Masters of Evil tried to take over the Impossible City, but Sam Wilson, Captain America, wasn’t going to let that happen without a fight. He took down Madcap then Dreadknight, but Mr. Hyde caught him by surprise. But as we see in Avengers #27, Sam gets some welcome backup in the form of the Black Panther!

Review:
The new Masters of Evil have taken the Avengers’ HQ, the Impossible City, but Sam is still there fighting them from the inside. He’s taken down Madcap and Dreadknight, but Mr. Hyde caught him slipping, and while he was beating him to a pulp, Sam got the ultimate Hail Mary: Black Panther is back! There will be SPOILERS in this review.

So, it’s been a while since T’Challa was seen last fighting a civil war inside Meridian Diadem’s internal prison. With his revolution over, Black Panther returns to the outside world just in the nick of time to save Sam from Mr. Hyde’s wrath. Of course, Mr. Hyde is no easy villain to beat especially for these two, but they’re more than up for the challenge as they have their own tricks up their sleeve. Plus, Exterminatrix steps in for her shot at taking on the two heroes, but while this all goes down the Mad Thinker is prepping his big move.

Alright, positives then the negatives. Firstly, Andrea Broccardo continues to kill it with the art when it comes to everything with the characters; not only the action but all the details from the ripped clothes, bloody cuts, damaged battle gear and armored suits, and everything else. Broccardo does a great job and pulls in double duty with Sam and T’Challa’s fights with Mr. Hyde and Exterminatrix, both of whom do get to have better spotlights than Madcap and Dreadknight before them. It also helps that both fights are characterized in distinct ways. Mr. Hyde’s fight is more violent and rooted in hand-to-hand combat while the fight with Exterminatrix is more ruthless and coldly efficient in how she uses the Adaptoids to her advantage. Either way, the comic really delivers with the action, pacing, and character dialogue.

The negatives? Mainly that Exterminatrix’s fight was so short-lived, but it did have a cool double page spread, so at least she got that. Then there’s the thing going on with Mad Thinker. On the one hand, it’s good that he planned for all of the others to fail showing he’s not oblivious to their villainous natures and always intended to use them one way or another. However, at the same time, the “how” in which he plans to capitalize on their failures is either going to be pretty sweet or pretty lame. Only time will tell which it ends up being when the next issue comes out.
Final Thoughts:

Avengers #27 brings the return of Black Panther as he comes to aid Sam Wilson, Captain America, in his fight against the Masters of Evil. The action is great in this issue as the artist does an excellent job in delivering epic superhero action. While the Masters of Evil are on the back foot, the Mad Thinker plays his ace and sets the stage for the final phase of this fight.
