Beast has shattered the trust of many mutants throughout the years. And now, he’s done the very same with Colossus. It appears as though Omega Red’s maintaining a deadly secret and X-Force (mainly Beast) may have to cross some lines to keep Krakoa protected. Nevertheless, nothing compares to the faith broken by interrogation of one of their own, especially when everyone knows he’s innocent. Let’s dive into X-FORCE #15 by Benjamin Percy and see what damage has been done as well as what’s waiting on their shores for the next installment.

I’m still really confused as to why the inquiry of Colossus needed to happen in the first place. Granted, it’s been many weeks now since this story was interrupted by X OF SWORDS. So, some of the details might be fuzzy. But, is Beast/ Jean interrogating Colossus solely because he’s Russian? Furthermore, why exactly would they jump to that conclusion and not simply trust the man who’s fought by their side for years? So, I’m having a hard time following this aspect of the story. However, I’m digging the Omega Red story that Percy has been weaving between this series and WOLVERINE. Vampires, Day Walking, Dracula, and Omega Red… this series is going to get good real quick.

Percy gets creative with this issue by engulfing some unique strategies with a Beast that’s on the verge of some borderline immoral solutions to their Krakoan problems. Additionally, I feel the X-FORCE team is made up of some classic characters that gel so well together. The conversations between each member within this issue felt authentic and real. The chemistry that Percy incorporates within each discussion was truly uncanny and helped the story flow comfortably, especially with the direction X-FORCE appears to be heading in this up and coming arc. Could it be a past foe from another country reeling its ugly head again? Or, is it someone new on the horizon? Plus, if that wasn’t enough, who knows what’s in store with Dracula, Omega Red, and vampires! I’m telling you, this story is going to blow! I can feel it.

FINAL THOUGHTS

If you’re not reading WOLVERINE by Percy, I’d highly recommend giving that a look as well, especially if you think this story seems wildly intriguing like I do. Now, as far as X-FORCE goes this week, it was mainly just used as a quick kickstart to get everyone back to their regularly scheduled program. Don’t get me wrong, this week’s installment was certainly entertaining and worth a look. However, it was mainly an overture to what’s on the horizon in this series. This issue of X-FORCE is simply chalked full of ideas waiting to burst. However, we can’t score it on the potential to come. Sure, I’m excited about the future of this title. Nonetheless, this week is purely interesting set-up. Give it a look and let me know what you think.
