STORY
Star Wars #14 written by Charles Soule, with artwork by Ramon Rosanas, is a tie-in to the “Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters” crossover event. In this issue, Princess Leia receives word that Han (frozen in carbonite) is being held by the criminal organization known as Crimson Dawn. Their plan is to have a criminal gathering and auction off Han to the highest bidder. With this in mind, Leia, Luke, Chewie, and Lando head to the meeting intent on getting Han back. Meanwhile, Lando contemplates his plan to help his friend Lobot.

OVERALL THOUGHTS
Overall, Star Wars #14 is an enjoyable issue. It can be read independently from the “Star Wars: War of the Bounty Hunters” crossover event and doesn’t require previous readings to understand the overall plot. Soule does a good job explaining the current storyline through character dialogue. That being said, the story in this issue was mediocre. There’s not too much that actually happens. There are no battles or fight scenes, and it has a lot of dialogue. The real gem of this issue is the artwork.
Ramon Rosanas makes this issue worth the price of admission. The detail in the art is amazing and the Millenium Falcon and Chewbacca have never looked better. So, although I was a bit underwhelmed with the story, I found myself spending extra time on each page enjoying the art. A shout out to Rachelle Rosenberg for some great coloring. It enhanced the pencils by Rosanas and made some of the panels “pop” right off the page.
FINAL THOUGHTS
Most Star Wars fans will enjoy reading Star Wars #14. What it lacks in action it makes up for in beautiful artwork and dialogue. If you’ve been reading this series – pick it up. If you’re a new reader – pick it up. Very rarely do I suggest a new reader start a series crossover after a few issues have been released, but this is one issue that you can read with little to no knowledge of what has come before.
