Are you ready to rumble!? Fight Night is finally here in Metal Society #5 by Zack Kaplan. This is it, what we’ve all be waiting for and what this entire series has been building to. Humans vs Robots, who will stand victorious? Our fighters, Rosa Genthree and WOL-421313 go tow-to-tow in an all out brawl to see which society is superior. Who can say how it will all turn out?
Zack Kaplan wrote an incredibly satisfying ending in Metal Society #5. The first half of this book goes through the fight round by round and lets us see how the fighters are feeling in their corners between rounds. Now I don’t want to spoil anything, but this fight is the perfect climax to what has been an enjoyable series throughout. And the champion’s parade after the fight is a touching conclusion to draw the series to a close.
This issue gives readers the final look at each of these societies in how they react to the fight, its immediate impact, and the long-lasting effects of the decision. Kaplan shows an exceptional understanding of population dynamics and the sociology behind impactful cultural events. He also shows that he can fulfill promises that were laid out issues beforehand and that characters, even robots, can grow and change in reaction to the events and people around them.
Guilherme Balbi and Marco Lesko team up for the final time on this series in Metal Society #5. As with each other issue in this series, the art fits the story perfectly. The fight scene is the ultimate example of how Balbi is able to excel at dynamic artwork. And Lesko’s colors help to give depth and a grittiness to the artwork that takes the sense realism to a whole new level.
Metal Society #5 is the perfect ending to an entertaining mini-series. It gives readers a satisfying conclusion and finally lets them see the hyped fight between Rosa & Wol to determine who will reign supreme, Humans or Robots.
