Readers, I’ve loved MARAUDERS since Duggan set sail on this series immediately after HOXPOX. Heck, I even trudged through the thick muck of awaiting Kitty’s return, which felt like forever due to COVID-19 delays. However, after wondering and waiting so long to get Kitty back, I feel like the wind has left the sails of this series. It’s missing its gusto and purpose and it needs to find it quickly. I have championed this series as one of the best X-books throughout this DAWN OF X era. However, I’m becoming more and more fearful that the ship’s compass may be a bit broken.

Nothing happens this issue that you couldn’t get by looking at the cover. Literally! That’s it. Readers could skip this issue and miss absolutely nothing of genuine importance. And if I’m to be frank, why is it that more and more writers are continuing to push romantic fluency within relationships of characters where it hasn’t existed before? Sure, this is the first Duggan himself has provided a sly insert into this title (and it was very subtle) BUT it appears as though the romantic lines are heating up at Marvel with no relevance to the story and inserted at overly random places.

FINAL THOUGHTS

MARAUDERS #12 really isn’t necessary to the overall story and is mainly a catch-up issue centered around a tattoo. Lately, MARAUDERS has been missing more than Kitty and it needs to find its place post hast! Let’s see Captain Kate back in action while she finds a way to stick it to that ill-tempered Sea Bass Sebastian Shaw! Let’s get to the good stuff we’ve all been waiting for already! Guys, keep this on your pull list but if you have to save a few bucks, you can totally skip MARAUDERS #12 this week.
