Welcome back to Dispatch’s Rapid Fire Recap for Al Ewing’s IMMORTAL HULK. With no new comics on the horizon, why not dive into a new series TO YOU? Immortal Hulk #6

Banner is trying to keep the Hulk at bay since he knows “something” came along with the gamma he absorbed from Walter Langkowski. From what we saw in the last issue, it may be Bruce’s dear old Dad. But, are we 100% sure? Next, readers are introduced to General Fortean and Dr. McGowan, who appear to be monitoring all possible people and locations that the Hulk could surface. Meanwhile, readers are taken to Alpha Flight examining Walter who is no longer Sasquatch. They appear to be worried about stopping a Hulk without Walter’s/ Sasquatch’s help. The issue concludes with what appears to be the current Avengers awaiting a showdown against the Hulk!

Immortal Hulk #7

The Avengers fight the Hulk and this “Devil Hulk” (possibly run by Banner’s Dad) takes every last one of the Avengers down. So, Tony does an epic proton blast from a space station and blasts Hulk into a fried carcass. However, the issue ends with Hulk… alive… separated into jars and in the hands of General Fortean. Remember, we now know Hulk can’t die nor can anyone infused with this magnified gamma radiation. Somehow, they are connected to this “green door” that continues to bring them back to life.

Immortal Hulk #8

Rapid Fire Recap:
Dr. Clive, who works with General Fortean, is slicing and dicing the Hulk into pieces. He discovers that he has super regenerative abilities if his body comes into proximity with its other appendages. We also find out that Fortean has “the walking ghost” from issue two in a tube within their facility. Meanwhile, Alpha Flight turns into ”Gamma Flight” now because they realize the threats of gamma radiation and how overexposure has caused many to be resurrected (on top of their dangerous abilities). So, they realize the possibility that Banner will again be back to life AND they have no idea where the government took him. The story jumps back to Dr. Clive who realizes that the Hulk let Fortean have him and let them experiment on him so he could figure out more about his/ the Hulk’s abilities. It turns out, the Hulk is psychically linked to his appendages and manages to crash all the jars containing his pieces eventually merging back together again with Dr. Clive becoming absorbed into the Hulk as he pieced himself back together. As the story concludes, Hulk literally punches his way out of Fortean’s underground bunker and escapes. However, daytime comes and Banner is finally back.

Immortal Hulk #9

Rapid Fire Recap:
This issue catches up readers on another gamma guy named Crusher Creel The Absorbing Man. He was detained and sent to prison however was given a leave if he worked for the government helping to track and take down the Hulk. So, with the help of General Fortean and Shadow Base, their goal is to make Creel stronger and more formidable to take down the Hulk. Dr. Clive (before Hulk killed him) modified Crusher to have the ability to absorb gamma energy on top of his other powers. So, Hulk and Crusher go toe to toe, and Creel absorbs so much of Hulk’s gamma energy that he looks like this shell of a man with an alien tentacle exploding from his body. However, that also means Crusher absorbed “Banner’s Dad” too. The issue ends with Creel being killed as his body explodes open, Creel standing within the area that the “green door” gives access too, and someone or something else controlling Crusher’s mangled body.

Immortal Hulk #10

This issue opens with Round 2 and Hulk basically begins to absorb his gamma right back from Crusher and rips out his spine. Meanwhile, Gamma Flight tracks down Hulk at the end of the fight while Agent Burbank, a sniper for General Fortean, starts shooting Hulk from afar. Nonetheless, while Hulk fights Gamma Flight AND Agent Burbank, the carcass of Crusher Creel runs across the desert to the site of the first gamma bomb. Whoever is “possessing” Creel is trying to tear open the “green door” for good. The Gamma Bomb from Banner all those years ago tore open a crack in that door. The thing possessing Creel right now heads to the site to drain all the leftover gamma radiation from the soil and the air and then lets himself blow, officially cracking open the door for good. Everyone from Jackie McGee to Gamma Flight, to Crusher, and the Hulk find themselves in Hell!
