Secret Wars #9 Review (2015)

Secret Wars #9 concludes the way the event began, as a meta-commentary for something deeper, personal, emotional, and more volatile than fans ever expected. Jonathan Hickman finally wraps up this magnificent tale that has felt psychological, heavy and truly enterprising for the Marvel Universe moving forward while concluding his NEW AVENGERS and FANTASTIC FOUR narratives in the process. Readers will leave this issue with almost all of the essential questions answered, which is what every fan ultimately wants at the end of any series. Readers may have been a bit down after the last issue. The previous edition was centered more around background information, recap, and behind the scenes surmising to the narrative. It clarified more of how, when, where, and why. When readers last left Doom World, fans saw a creation story, conflict, questioning amongst Valeria and the Future Foundation, and approximations as to where several of the residing life raft heroes (or should I say villains) were scattered. SECRET WARS #2 Retro Review (2015)

As the last issue came to an end, fans saw a valiant effort by Reed Richards 616 to save his family, as well as many scientists and figureheads of ”their” Marvel Universe to repopulate the human race. However, Reed’s lifeboat was ripped apart sending his family to their death inches away from Mister Fantastic’s fingertips. Additionally, all parallel world’s have been destroyed and a bright nothingness is all that remained, except for one image as issue one ended… the image of Doom! Secret Wars #1 (2015) Retro Review

After months of build-up to this event, as well as years of Marvel Comic’s History, SECRET WARS #1 was released on May 6th, 2015 with nonstop action, intensity, and heart-racing drama that this reviewer hasn’t seen in a comic since. Everything in this issue felt important, had weight, horrific consequences, awful heroic choices, and felt like it’s impact to the Marvel Comic landscape would be felt for years to come. Ultimately, every reader wants to feel like what they’re reading is validated and important.
